EDUCATION

Elyse is a professional baker with 23 years of baking experience. She wanted to bake cakes ever since she was a little girl. Originally from Denver, she attended Johnson & Wales University, getting her degrees in Baking & Pastry Arts, Restaurant Management, and Entrepreneurship. While studying, she spent a semester baking at Müeller Beck bakery in Switzerland.

EXPERIENCE

Elyse started baking wedding cakes professionally when she was only 15! She started working as a cake decorator at Whole Foods in college, and quickly moved up. She managed the bakery departments at 3 of Denver’s largest locations for 9 years, and then moved on to overseeing 33 Whole Food bakeries in her region. She developed new recipes, foraged for more local vendors, and helped open new stores in the Rocky Mountain Region. Eventually, she became the store manager of the Whole Foods in Wichita (which is what brought her here!). While working for Whole Foods she never stopped baking and making food for friends and family. In 2023 she was finally able to leave her job at Whole Foods to launch Elyse’s Sweets full time!

PERSONAL LIFE

Elyse is loving married life and being a mom to her son Dean. She fills her time with working out, leading prayer groups, experimenting with new recipes, throwing memorable parties and events, and spoiling her dog, Augie.

Fun Fact: Elyse is the 2003 national gingerbread house baking champion. winning a competitive, live competition in Miami.
